So another one I forgot to review on first read.

I probably would've forgotten to review it again but I started reading other's reviews and noticed mine missing. It is not because it wasn't a really good read, it was by the 4 star review that is still where I would put it, but because it feels like a transition book and didn't have a lot to critic. This has Atticus and Oberon, and Granuaile and Owen which are add ons, and two main story points going. One is a plague in India and another is who killed Mirr, one of the celtic gods from the last book. It is told 1st person, with 3 points of view switching throughout the book. I liked the first 5 books which were just in the POV of Atticus but I think as the story goes …

I liked the first 5 books which were just in the POV of Atticus but I think as the story goes on, it is getting more complicated that the one sided view cannot handle well. So we will probably have this set up for the rest of the books.
Granuaile deals with the plague issue as it is her dad who is possessed, so along with the plague, she deals with family and the feelings that arise. Largely every time we switch to Granuaile's POV I'm a little disappointed. Her voice is not humorous and even her hound is flat. Some of the things she deals with are interesting, and I loved the half frost giants Yetis, but her telling it just doesn't grip me like when we are on Atticus' POV. This is mainly the lost of the star from making it great.
Owen is a new voice and he is quite fun/funny. More so than Atticus and Oberon now. This is from his dealing with adjustments to this time, where electricity can seem like magic, and his student is now his teacher. Some of his observations and adjustments are spot on and just great. I really hope he gets that monkey as a companion.
And then there is Atticus and Oberon, I always love coming back to stories with Atticus and Oberon. Oberon still makes "observations" that'll make you smile and sometimes laugh. This was a really good transition with a couple of plot lines which will all lead to the war that is obviously coming. I cannot wait.
