Content warning Inhalt, Suizid, Depression
Als ich die ersten Kapitel las, musste ich schlucken- die Beschreibung von Depression und Suizidalität war so authentisch und mir so bekannt- ich guckte erstmal den Hintergrund des Autors nach, und natürlich, er WEISS, was er schreibt.
Natürlich ist das ganze etwas verkürzt, aber letztlich ziemlich korrekt. Du hast ein Leben, also lebe es. Als ich damals überlebte, dauerte es noch etliche Wochen, bis ich auf die Idee kam, vielleicht doch weiter zu leben zu versuchen. Und nein, das Leben ist nicht immer schön, gewiss nicht, aber ich lebe. Irgendwie. Aber ich lebe.
Angesichts der Alternativen ist es auch relativ egal, ob das Leben einen Sinn hat oder nicht.
Eines der besten Bücher seit langem, die ich gelese habe. Vielleicht sollte man das nur niemandem geben, bei dem der Scheiß hochakut ist.

Das Buch "Mitternachtsbibliothek" von Matt Haig hat mich regelrecht in seinen Bann gezogen. Die faszinierende Vorstellung, wie sich Leben entwickeln könnten, wenn nur ein kleiner Teil davon verändert würde, hat mich förmlich dazu gezwungen, Seite um Seite zu verschlingen. Die Protagonistin Nora Seed nimmt uns mit auf eine emotionale Reise durch verschiedene Parallelwelten, die mich nachdenklich gestimmt haben. Haigs Erzählweise und die tiefsinnigen Botschaften über Lebensentscheidungen, Verlust und Selbstfindung haben mich fasziniert. "Mitternachtsbibliothek" ist ein Buch, das einen lange nach dem Lesen begleitet und zum Reflektieren anregt. Eine absolute Empfehlung für jeden, der gerne in fesselnde Geschichten eintaucht und dabei über das eigene Leben nachdenken möchte.

Good and insightful
I originally never intended on reading this. As with most my reads I try to stay away from those overly hyped everywhere. But after reading the synopsis I thought what they hay. I am sooooo glad I did. The writing touched a heavy topic of regret and what if, but the authors way of playful and witty words helped smooth those sharp edges. The insight within this book had me highlighting quote after quote because it resonates with the reader.

Summer Reading Challenge 2021 - week 1 - check!

Nachdem ich "The Humans" abgebrochen habe, weil es mir zu belehrend und pseudo-philosophisch war, war ich darum sehr skeptisch, als "Die Mitternachtsbibliothek" für das erste Buch der diesjährigen Summer Reading Challenge ausgewählt worden ist.
Jetzt war ich natürlich schon darauf gefasst, dass Matt Haig seinen Leser:innen die Lebensweisheiten nur so um die Ohren hauen würde. Es sind schon sehr viele Plattitüden enthalten und dieses Ende hatte ich genauso schon bei zirka 20 Prozent erwartet... Denn sonst wäre ja die "Lehre" des Buches nicht auf die Lebenswelt der Leser:innen anwendbar.
Fazit: Das Buch war nicht so furchtbar, wie ich befürchtet hatte, aber dennoch genauso salbadernd wie erwartet.
Und noch ganz kurz zum Hörbuch (gekürzte Ausgabe kostenlos auf Spotify erhältlich): Annette Frier hat -ausgenommen von ihren Akzenten, die mMn nicht sehr gelungen waren - echt super vorgelesen!
