Wow. Don't underestimate this book. It's slow but comfortable in the beginning. Well pruned sentences. I enjoyed it, but I didn't see what Serle was doing.

I have to say that this book was a huge surprise, for me. The story started in a manner that had me thinking it might be headed towards being a bit of science-fiction tale. But in the end, what I encountered was a moving (touching) story of love, friendship and mysticism. I am not normally inclined towards the chick-novel genre but this book is truly a wonderful read. It makes the world seem a little more hopeful even as we encounter and cope with pain.
I have no idea how this ended up on my library holds list (from a list of books or a friend's recommendation? no idea!) so when it popped up as available, I dove in blindly. It's not the type of book I'd normally gravitate toward – it's a thinly veiled romance – were it not for the hook: a quick premonition teases an unlikely future that the protagonist wants to prevent and readers want to understand.
Note: I'm being generous with my stars; it's hard to take a book seriously that repeatedly describes one of its adult characters as doing a seated shimmy.
This is no great work of literature - it’s solid chick-lit - which is exactly what I needed right now. Could not put it down and didn’t want it to end. Enjoyed the twists and turns.
