The Reverend Jesse Custer is returning to the Alamo, a place of sacrifice, to end the quest that began in the burning remains of his church all those years ago - a quest to track down God and make Him answer for His actions.
"Justice. Vengeance. Arseface."
There is no way I can root for characters making fun of a disfigured boy that shot himself in the face.
Perhaps the material is a little bit dated or perhaps I just can't get past some of the poorly imitated "Texan" accents but this collection was just so-so. The characters are interesting and the story arcs are intriguing so I will continue reading the series but if it weren't for the upcoming film I probably wouldn't bother. I have to say the art is also a big pull for me. Scenes of bullets tearing off jaws have never been so vivid. So, hey, plus one star for creative destruction.
Lost its focus when they left Texas. The part with the two cops and the serial killer brought was a good start down. I'll give the second installment a shot, though.
