As always Vaughan's character work is on-point, and the continued plot thickening is good stuff.

A much more compact bit of time in the story of Papergirls (takes place in 2-3 incidents over maybe an hour) and has the same brilliant pacing and firecracker dialogue as the first too volumes. There's not really enough here to get you emotionally invested but as an overall part of Paper Girls, a feminist version of Stranger Things, really a joyous bullet train between volumes 2 and 4.
A great series continues as the 4 friends/newspaper delivery girls from 1988 are stranded in 2016 with an older version of themselves. Doesn't feel as fresh as the first one but how could it? It's really here to speed us along to the next volume which is does fabulously.
Really great 2nd part. Looking forward to read vol 3 now. One little warning though: don't read the german version. The translation is awful.
I may step away from this series. There's lots that I really like, but time travel always gets on my nerves.
Well. It all seems to be coming together now.
The first book seemed well written but a little unsure about where the story might head. Book 2 rectified that, but wasn't long enough to give a good impression of what direction that might be - there were still too many new things in it to give each enough space. Book 3 is much simpler in its plot, and starts tying some of the ideas from #2 together, revealing a first glimpse of what's actually being attempted here.
Darn it, that was good. Now I'm stuck looking forward to more.
YES!!!
I've been waiting months to read volume 2 through my library but went ahead and bought it, and I'm so happy I have volumes 1 & 2 in my collection. Apart from how much I love the diversity of the characters, the time spent learning about their backstories, and seeing the depth of their friendship, it's so refreshing to read sci-fi through the perspective of a bunch of female characters. Have I been waiting my whole life for this? YES!!!
I read volume 1 shortly after watching Stranger Things (which I absolutely adore) and was obviously on a kick of stories about friendship, nerds, the 80s, and aliens. Volume 2 doesn't skip a single beat and picks up right where volume 1 left off and leaves you pining for volume 3. Vaughan writes time travel incredibly well, and leaves just enough unanswered to keep you wondering what will honestly …

First we had dinosaurs, now giant waterbears fighting in downtown Cleveland, now what?
I love this series, I love women & girls who don't take shit and protect each other, and I love Brain K. Vaughan for continuing to craft such complex characters, fascinating worlds, and intense storylines.
