Short, crisp, filled with a feeling that something magical/unreal is about to happen. Nice turn of events towards the end, which then felt, as if it was all pre-planned. The short story nicely tells the greed of humans and the consequences that come.
This is another delving into the world of the fairy tale, not so much the edited and expurgated Grimm as the old grit that adults used to frighten each other with on cold winter nights. A delightful, dark meditation on what has worth in the world and what one would do if that worth is threatened.
Short read. The audio book was great.
