It's a motivating book, no doubt. Is there much scientific backing to his processes and does he outline what his methods are based on? If the data is on his side, he rarely mentions it. There are some internet related cultural aspects he mentions that are wholly outdated in 2023, not that it would really change much the processes that he's talking about. But there is a disproportionate focus on handling your email, which may not be a central issue anymore, as there are worse attention grabbers out there.

To sum up, low on referenced science, moderately high on emotion, clearly written and useful for reminding you to get back on track with your life. It's largely not a revelatory book as many concepts it mentions you probably already know. But it has the essentials in a nice package that you might want to return to every once in a …

It's possible I just read this too late, after already reaching much of Leo's material online, but there was nothing new or interesting covered here. I don't think this is necessarily the book's fault, but there were some elements to its tone that irked me a bit as well, so I'm going to stick with this rating at this time. I may well read more of the author's later books, as I realize this one is pretty old now.

Simple and too the point, exactly as you'd expect it to be. A great overview of the Zen Habits site to get started without reading five years worth of blog entries. I used to read the site regularly, but hadn't done so recently, so the book was a wonderful tool to get back into it. I like Leo Babauta's method, and plan to implement it as I continue to work to declutter and simplify my life. I listened to the audiobook version (from the library,) and while it got me interested enough to want more, it's not easy to work through the exercises while listening. I purchased a Kindle version of the book (which was only $3) so that I can work through at a manageable pace.

Some of the recommendations of this volume by Leo Babauta of Zen Habits fame don't work for my life (checking email twice would be the end of my profession). However, his amazing advice, in just this slim volume, has already changed key elements of my daily operating sysem. And this guy has SIX kids, makes a living and seems to have a lovely home life. This is a must read for those of us suffering from information anxiety or work in 24/7 worlds of data smog. Anxiety reducing techniques for living a full life that YOU conrol. Thank you Leo!
