This book is a fascinating read. If you liked [b:Cryptonomicon|816|Cryptonomicon|Neal Stephenson|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1157396454s/816.jpg|1166797] you will like this. This is a view into a future civilization that has perfected the ability to look back over history, following individuals and analyzing their decisions. It plays with the concept of the possibility of changing a moment in time and perfecting their own timeline.

Unlike other time travel books this one doesn't gloss over or sugar coat the decision to change the past. The decision is hard but it is made for, what they feel is, the right reason. Though the book doesn't delve into, or discuss in depth the decision I really appreciated the fact that they didn't just make a slight change in the past and suddenly everyone is happier and prettier.

The interaction with the past and the storytelling was great and really made the reader sympathize with Columbus.
