This is a perfect feel good book. I have been on the hunt for something similar and as good since I read this one. It has elevated and changed my expectations in fun literature. Highly recommend this one, and it's a very fun paperback. Color pops off the shelf.

3.5 stars., rounded up to four. If I were a fan of romance, I would give this book five stars because I think it's better than average for books with that as a goal. The dialogue is witty; the structure (telling a story one vacation at a time, contrasting current day with history) is clever. Overall, I think most people would like it, and I found it to be a fun listen. Where I got stuck: when something seems this obvious, like such a foregone conclusion, I struggle to have patience to watch it unfold. And I don't find romance that compelling as a genre. It's clear from the earliest pages that these two best friends are going to end up together, so every page that attempted to keep me in suspense mainly irritated me, no matter how witty or relatable the banter. That said, this book is a lot better than most in the romance genre because it actually develops the characters. I also usually cringe at how writers handle sex scenes, but she did a good job describing what mattered to capture the mood without it feeling ridiculous.

This book stressed me out at times, so I knocked off half a star for that. Otherwise, this was a really sweet "When Harry Met Sally" homage, with relatable and neurotic main characters.
