Many times in the past, I've come across a sci-fi novel, read the first few pages, and said, "fuck it, it's not for me." In fact, I don't think I'd ever read this Douglas Adams novel had someone not once told me that the answer to Life, The Universe, and Everything was found in this book. I was ten then. Nine years later, here I am. I don't have much words: it's amazing. It lived up to the expectations I've built over years of curiosity, and that's saying a lot for someone who's not usually a fan of its genre. Definitely a 5/5.

I recently re-read this and didn't enjoy it as much as I did as a young person, maybe my sense of humour has changed, maybe it's just because this series has been done to death, movie, tv-series, audiobooks and radio versions. I think I've watched/listened to them many times. There is still plenty to laugh at in this book but some jokes feel a bit "old hat". The Babel fish is still genius though and the biggest laugh for me (I dunno why) is about the worst poetry in the universe...it's the little things that still make this a great book.
