Fun series and I enjoyed them all. I thought this was yet another great book, though I think the final "battle" was a little to quick and "easy". In true Sanderson fashion there are a few twists at the end, easier then his other books as this is YA but fun! Fun world and a fun series. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a lighter easy read, or YA!

This is a great conclusion to the Reckoners series of books by Brandon Sanderson. I thoroughly enjoyed it and read it in a flash. The setting is cool as always. It makes me wonder, which city of the three books would I prefer: Newcago, Babilar, or Ildithia? The plot races on with lots of action going on in every chapter. The only drawback is that I wasn't impressed too much with the characters for this particular book, though it may be that we already know most of them from prior books.

This book flew by but I don't know where the time went. Outside of the Nighthawk charge in the beginning, the battle at Sharp Tower and the Calamity climax I wasn't sure where the rest of the story went but it came and went.
In a classic Sanderson twist there were a few surprises pulled out in the end. I was watching my progress and when there was 20% of the book remaining and there was so much left to do I felt like The Deathly Hallows all over again, our heroes were failing at finding Horcuxes, pages were flying by …

The book had some classic David phrases, some back story on the characters and a look in to how Epic derived technology is created. I really liked the use of Megan's multi-verse and as abrupt as the ending was I was satisfied with it.
How is this the end?! There's still so much potential here! So many loose ends! Granted none of them are vital to the story of the Reckoners themselves, but I want more, dammit! I'm not ready to say goodbye!

Part of me wonders if it was a rush to finish the tale. What if this had been a prequel to the finale? You've got a small amount of time doing recover cleanup from the last devastating book. You've got a weird amalgamation of working in a new landscape, then a rush to Epic showdowns then to a climax, which quickly thrusts you into an epilogue. Sewn in between all of this is this meta love story, sometimes forced metaphors, all wrapped up into a rollercoaster ride which you can distinctly hear the click-click-click-click of the ride ratcheting up the tower.
So I'm not sure.
Did I enjoy it? Yea. It was a fun diversion, and enjoyable landscape, an interesting read, and always interesting power structure / moral compass flipping / land of Epic-oddities, but somewhere I felt a bit rushed through the museum.
If you've read this far, you owe it to read onwards--you will have a good time, but like a bagel with cream cheese, you'll ponder if you should have added some protein to it because damn you're still hungry. :D
An OK ending to an OK series.
It was OK. And that is bad. I mean, this is Brandon Sanderson we are talking about. "OK" is not good enough.
There were many excellent points in the book. Good action, fantastic worldbuilding.... but the story... didn't finish. Didn't wrap up nor give actual closure. We never got to know Calamity, not really. We don't know why nor how.
The writing was very good, but the storytelling, the plot, was below par. Very unfortunate.
Sorry Mr. Sanderson, maybe you should slow down your writing pace and focus a bit more on your previous quality, instead of quantity. I hear you curse John Scalzi in your Writing Excuses podcasts, but he has one big flaw: bland repetitiveness. And now you are starting to copy that.
Go back to quality, please.
