When Calamity lit up the sky, the Epics were born. David’s fate has been tied to their villainy ever since that historic night. Steelheart killed his father. Firefight stole his heart. And now Regalia has turned his closest ally into a dangerous enemy. David knew Prof’s secret, and kept it even when Prof struggled to control the effects of his Epic powers. But facing Obliteration in Babilar was too much. Once the Reckoners’ leader, Prof has now embraced his Epic destiny. He’s disappeared into those murky shadows of menace Epics are infamous for the world over, and everyone knows there’s no turning back. . . . But everyone is wrong. Redemption is possible for Epics—Megan proved it. They’re not lost. Not completely. And David is just about crazy enough to face down the most powerful High Epic of all to get his friend back. Or die trying.

Fun series and I enjoyed them all. I thought this was yet another great book, though I think the final "battle" was a little to quick and "easy". In true Sanderson fashion there are a few twists at the end, easier then his other books as this is YA but fun! Fun world and a fun series. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a lighter easy read, or YA!

трохи надто тягуче майже до фіналу, котрий трішки компенсує... загалом, тема супергероїв швидко набридає. не пригадаю, чи має серія продовження — але мені досить, мабуть :-)

This is a great conclusion to the Reckoners series of books by Brandon Sanderson. I thoroughly enjoyed it and read it in a flash. The setting is cool as always. It makes me wonder, which city of the three books would I prefer: Newcago, Babilar, or Ildithia? The plot races on with lots of action going on in every chapter. The only drawback is that I wasn't impressed too much with the characters for this particular book, though it may be that we already know most of them from prior books.

You want to fight a god? You'd better have one on your side too.

Two books of set up and now the final match was ready to go down. The Reckoners series has been enjoyable but not my favorite Sanderson series, but it still entertained and held my attention.

This book flew by but I don't know where the time went. Outside of the Nighthawk charge in the beginning, the battle at Sharp Tower and the Calamity climax I wasn't sure where the rest of the story went but it came and went.

In a classic Sanderson twist there were a few surprises pulled out in the end. I was watching my progress and when there was 20% of the book remaining and there was so much left to do I felt like The Deathly Hallows all over again, our heroes were failing at finding Horcuxes, pages were flying by …

I'm conflicted..

I don't like to be conflicted..

..Conflicted (animated)..

Then again I think I'm always going to be conflicted when it comes to YA books. I'm not a YA. I can't even remember being a YA. I know I was there. I know I read the [b:Pawn of Prophecy|44659|Pawn of Prophecy (The Belgariad, #1)|David Eddings|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1391346857s/44659.jpg|2558293] (Belgariad) series and thought it spoke to me.. but that was a long time ago..

Ok I'm digressing which is crappy for you. Was this a good book? Sure. Was it a great book? Nah. I love Sanderson, I love the [b:Mistborn Trilogy Boxed Set|6604209|Mistborn Trilogy Boxed Set (Mistborn, #1-3)|Brandon Sanderson|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1257442247s/6604209.jpg|6798109] / series and most everything he has done but this book had me, lost me, had me again, almost lost me, had me again.

Part of me wonders if it was a rush to finish the tale. What if this had been a …

It was OK. And that is bad. I mean, this is Brandon Sanderson we are talking about. "OK" is not good enough.
There were many excellent points in the book. Good action, fantastic worldbuilding.... but the story... didn't finish. Didn't wrap up nor give actual closure. We never got to know Calamity, not really. We don't know why nor how.
The writing was very good, but the storytelling, the plot, was below par. Very unfortunate.
Sorry Mr. Sanderson, maybe you should slow down your writing pace and focus a bit more on your previous quality, instead of quantity. I hear you curse John Scalzi in your Writing Excuses podcasts, but he has one big flaw: bland repetitiveness. And now you are starting to copy that.
Go back to quality, please.
