Pretty sure I'd already marked this as read once, but it seems to have found its way back into currently reading. Curious.
Reviews and Comments
I never know what to put here. Hi! I read a lot of fantasy, some history (fiction and non-fiction), but also (almost) always willing to branch out a bit. I don't enjoy horror, though, and I've had rather mixed success in the crime/thriller department.

I attempted this as an audiobook, narrated by the author. Who does not have a good reading voice, sorry to say, and sounds like she's about 12. This is bad when trying to make me believe the protagonist is supposedly 'middle-aged' with four children.
Middle-aged. Look! She's 41! I'm not certain when exactly 'middle-aged' is supposed to begin, but I'm 44, and I am not enjoying the label! Especially not when she seems to be written as though she was about 70.
I really didn't get very far in this book. I didn't even get far enough for Audible to allow me to leave a review. I didn't even get so far that I would have bothered even putting it on here at all if I could have left the review at Audible, but I needed to get this off my chest! The last straw was when this supposedly 41 …

The last straw was when this supposedly 41 year old woman refers to the crock-pot she received as a wedding present 25 years prior. Which means they must have married at age 16. Listen, I don't know what the laws are in America, but I'm pretty sure this is unlikely. I wonder if the story started out with her being around 50 and then she got de-aged a decade and the marriage didn't.
I wonder if Audible still offer returns.
Review of "Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries" on 'Goodreads'
5 stars
In a small attempt to break my habit of only writing reviews of books I hated, this one was AMAZING. I fell for Emily almost immediately, probably because as an introvert myself, I identified strongly with her.
I had it as an audiobook, and the narrator was excellent as well, sounding so exactly like you would imagine Emily to sound that it was so easy to get immersed in the story.
I have preordered the next book already and I really hope it will be the same narrator. I forgot to check.
