божечки, це просто парад шаблонів; так, я розумію, що ввесь жанр давно не оновлювався, практично вичерпав себе і тепер канібалізує, але ж тут взагалі жодної цікавої, оригінальної думки нема — це просто набір заїжджених шаблонів, аби як зшитих докупи :-(

повільно слухається.

ну… важливий, цікавий твір, без сумніву! але як пригода, цього разу толкінівська сага мене розчаровує. я вже не той підліток, котрий захоплено читав це вперше, інші очікування й вимоги.

чомусь захотілося переслухати класичну сагу толкіна. це, здається, утретє чи вчетверте? перший раз читав трилогію московитською, в університеті; точно слухав французькою десь між 2012 та 2016; але не можу пригадати, чи читав / слухав англійською (це вельми ймовірно).

вже бачу, що це черговий конвейєрний клон тома кленсі, тому мене почина все дратувати з найперших сторінок: шаблонність сюжету й подачі, лінивий і позбавлений фантазії інфодамп замість вимальовування контексту, картонність персонажів і їхня пафосна ерзац-мова.

а найбільше, мабуть, дратує тепер цей примітивний американський егоцентризм з комплексом супермена — з урахуванням того, що ми знаємо про справжню нездатність і небажання сша адекватно реагувати на реальні небезпеки у світі, на невигаданий розквіт державного фашизму в 21 столітті, ба на зараження самих сша цим фашизмом — оповідки про суперагентів і секретні департаменти читаються як фарс для розваги реднеків, не більше.

але хтлсь мені порадив цю серію як «кращого річера», тож принаймні першу частину спробую подужати, мабуть.

a children's fairy-tale that tries to be everything at once, from fantasy to sci-fi to philosophical parable. failing at every attempt. full of typically american egocentricity and pathos that wants to be complex but is naïve. in the end, quite disgusting and a waste of time.

i despise myself for not being able to put this bs down, drop it into a virtual trash bin, and just forget it forever. this is my persisting problem with really bad books :-(

i have all 6 books. the 6th is the one i'm most interested in reading.

it's not a bad book: first, it has interested me because i was ready, i was searching for confirmation of my negative thoughts about social media, post-truth, lack of control over one's life etc.

despite what the author thinks and wants the reader to think, the book dors not have a solution. the «digital minimalism», while an interesting exercise, is not one. it can not save the humanity — it can only serve as a support to those who are already undergoing the transition under the stress of the modern informational assault.

to those who are ready though, the book does propose some points of support in search of the answers, however local, personal and subjective.

well, finished it yesterday.

pompous, slobbery, read with excessive tearful emotionality (i listened to an audio book read by e.w. zeller). i hasitated between 2 and 3 stars, decided to be generous for no reason; wish there was a way to detect similar writing and avoid it.
