I listened to the audiobook while driving from Texas to Minnesota and it was an absolute joy!
A girl with guts goes off to rescue her one true love, finding a crew of supportive friends along the way. Crazy setting with magic spores. Author let his hair down and it feels fresh & joyful.
Amazing truly love the spore system
Didn't think I would like this so much. Exceeded my expectations.
This book is so damn adorable. It's sweet and whimsical.
Brandon Sanderson tries to combine The Princess Bride and Discworld, and manages to pull it off pretty well. It takes a second to get going, but once it's rolling it's hard to put down.
This one made me smile. Quality little jaunt in the multiverse. Neat world in the cosmere with a story that helps resolve and will move forward some characters. Quirky, unique, and cute. Don't read too deep into it, just enjoy the ride.
Content warning Cosmere Spoilers
I absolutely loved the Secret project book #1, it was filled with really neat explorations of the Aethers - you get small exposure to a lot of different Cosmere magic systems.
Absolutely worth reading.
There is nothing wrong with this book, but there is nothing especially interesting or memorable about it either. It feels like it was written as a side project, which it was. It does get extra consideration since, like all Sanderson fantasy, it has a well thought out magic system instead of one that evolves to fit whatever corner the author writes themself into.
Loved it, probably my favorite stand-alone book of Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere! Interesting world building and beautiful artwork.
This was a really fun, short novel. A bit of a romantic adventure, but with classic Sanderson world-building and quirky characters. You can certainly see some of the covid influences, from the fear of airborne spores to tablet communication devices. The plot is straightforward and told in an interesting style with a whimsical narrator that talks to the reader and frequently drops fascinating Cosmere links or foreshadows story events. Overall this was a good book and a great start to the year of Sanderson.

Very nice novel! It was a delight to read and very easygoing. Definitely worth the time and wish I'll someday see more of those character. Secret Project #1 was a hit for sure!
If you wish to become a storyteller, here is a hint: sell your labor, but not your mind.
The Year of Sanderson starts promptly with a new book releasing on January 1 and it's told from the perspective by Hoid! We are truly spoiled.
Lem might have been poor in the kind of currency that paid taxes. But he was downright wealthy when it came to the kind of currency that mattered.
Tress of the Emerald Sea is a Cosmere novel that requires no Cosmere knowledge, but like with all things Sanderson, if you know a little the implication in this book are plenty. On the whole this is a very lighthearted, whimsical fairytale. I wasn't in a rush to read the book but I found it very easy to read a chapter or five in a sitting.
Memories are fossils, the bones left by dead version of ourselves.

The world building and magic system were creative and it involves pirates! And a dragon! The illustrations in the ebook probably didn't do the designers work justice but I appreciated having some approved artwork to supplement the story as opposed to using my head-canon.
...worries are the only thing that you can make heavier simply by thinking about them
Fun read and great way to start off 2023!
After not reading much at all for the past 2 or even 3 years, this book was such a joy that I hope I can begin reading more again. It was just what I needed to remind me why I read stories. Love it. So wise and funny.
