Very interesting tangent in the overarching plot. There was some excellent new worldbuilding done here.

When we last left the mighty wizard detective Harry Dresden, he wasn't doing well. In fact, he had been murdered by an unknown assassin.
But being dead doesn't stop him when his friends are in danger. Except now he has no body, and no magic to help him. And there are also several dark spirits roaming the Chicago shadows who owe Harry some payback of their own.
To save his friends—and his own soul—Harry will have to pull off the ultimate trick without any magic...
Very interesting tangent in the overarching plot. There was some excellent new worldbuilding done here.

This starts out with a trope I hate, because it never, ever plays out well or reasonably. Except this time it did - and hurt like a kick to the face in a couple places. Really well executed, though I spent the first half of the book waiting for a shoe-drop of stupid that never arrived.
Thank goodness.
The whole premise of this book kind of seemed like a bad writing experiment. Hopefully the series can get back on track like the previous books.
It was a good book. Difficult to read. It'll be interesting to see how the next one is done. At the moment everything is so changed I'm not sure I enjoy the world anymore.
This long-awaited book did not disappoint!
Loved It, Can't wait for the next book, spent a year waiting to see how Harry was going to get out of the last books cliffhanger.
In the beginning it was hard not to think of "It's a wonderful life" as Butcher showed us the Chicago with out Harry. Then good The old Dresden story Began to unfold, with some nice twists to the common Chicago characters. And a Ending that raped up nicely. It will be interesting to see how this tangent of the series will go.
