Harry's ghost is back to find out who killed him, being led into the assumption that more rides on it that actually did. Obviously being his obnoxious self-righteous self even as a ghost, and not showing any signs of losing his essence as he helps his friends with magic even from beyond.

Very interesting tangent in the overarching plot. There was some excellent new worldbuilding done here.

No sé en que pensaba la primera vez que leí el libro, pero esta segunda le ha sentado mucho mejor.
Si, es un cambio de ritmo muy grande con respecto al clímax del anterior, pero es necesario para que tanto el lector como el personaje procesen los golpes que da la historia hasta este punto.¨
Aprovecha para recuperar a un personaje del principio de la saga para dar otro punto de vista a Dresden, y también presenta el statu quo de una manera bastante buena, explicando cómo están los personajes secundarios y esbozando el por qué.
En resumen, es un buen libro para hacer el cambio de arco.

This starts out with a trope I hate, because it never, ever plays out well or reasonably. Except this time it did - and hurt like a kick to the face in a couple places. Really well executed, though I spent the first half of the book waiting for a shoe-drop of stupid that never arrived.

Thank goodness.

Jim Butcher left his protagonist in an apparently terminal state at the end of the last novel and he doesn't cop out here, presenting us with a now dead Harry Dresden. Naturally as the reader I'm expecting that to be resolved by the time the book is over, but Butcher doesn't give his hero an easy ride.

The Dresden series of novels is what I consider "popcorn entertainment". Not because they're bad, they're consistently good actually, but because they don't require too much in the way of soul searching to read. What I get out of it is an exciting, fast moving adventure that amuses and occasionally thrills me. And that is what Butcher delivers one more time.

The nature of this story provides a little more introspection perhaps and also fails to move any of the ongoing plot elements forward at all. Which is frustrating for someone who has …

I didn't quite enjoy this as much as the others, follows the same formula but in effort to make his characters grow up he is attempting to cram them into anti-stereotypes.

It was a good book. Difficult to read. It'll be interesting to see how the next one is done. At the moment everything is so changed I'm not sure I enjoy the world anymore.

Loved It, Can't wait for the next book, spent a year waiting to see how Harry was going to get out of the last books cliffhanger.

In the beginning it was hard not to think of "It's a wonderful life" as Butcher showed us the Chicago with out Harry. Then good The old Dresden story Began to unfold, with some nice twists to the common Chicago characters. And a Ending that raped up nicely. It will be interesting to see how this tangent of the series will go.
