This second volume of The Adventure Zone captures the more structured second arc of the podcast with it's murder on a train framing superbly. The gags don't always land, but this light take on D&D is an enjoyable read.
Awesome! Even funnier than the first one. I love these adaptations because it really is like enjoying a favorite story all over again for the first time.
3.5 Really torn about this one. Beautifully drawn and at times quite witty, the plot is kind of predictable and the motivation of everybody relatively random - if quirky. Add a couple of gods out of the machine and a relatively kludged together background and the quirkiness and art have a hard time pulling everything back together over the awesome line. That they just manage to do this is in no small part due to Carey Pietsch. Also 21 black chapter heading pages is still overdoing it. Not quite over 10% this time, but still. Won't anybody think of the trees?
