There's a lot of meta in this comic and a lot of fun, even if you've never heard the irreverent D&D podcast were the bulk of it originated. I couldn't tell myself, having heard the podcast first, but I have on good authority the the comic itself is fun and an incentive to check out "The Adventure Zone".

Just one word of warning. You might end up a fan of all things McElroy. And there's sooooo much McElroy out there.

3.5 Really torn about this one. Beautifully drawn and at times quite witty, the plot is kind of predictable and the motivation of everybody relatively random - if quirky. Add a couple of gods out of the machine and a relatively kludged together background and the quirkiness and art have a hard time pulling everything back together over the awesome line. That they just manage to do this is in no small part due to Carey Pietsch. Also 21 black chapter heading pages is still overdoing it. Not quite over 10% this time, but still. Won't anybody think of the trees?
