Se consideriamo la particolarità di Abarat e dei suoi abitanti, leggere Abarat (il romanzo!) mi ha fatto pensare immediatamente ad Alice nel Paese delle Meraviglie di Lewis Carroll. Si aggiungono, però, anche gli intrecci moderni in cui Clive Barker segue le evoluzioni di personaggi differenti oltre alla protagonista, rendendo la narrazione non solo stimolante, ma anche avvincente.

Ugh, this book is even better with a second read ~15 years later.
