Some puzzles set up.

It's probably a good thing I read this so soon after I read The 5th Wave (as in, immediately after); I probably would've forgotten details and not noticed certain aspects.

That said, it's a mixture. It's not as compelling as the first book of the series, but it isn't a bad read; it's still interesting, but I kind of would like to see more from Evan's perspective (as he's the goal of an operation in the novel). I do love getting to follow Ringer through her changes, though.

Still a more refreshing alien-invasion novel than, well, most anything else. And I like the quasi-riddles that are proposed throughout, which is probably why I like Ringer's portions of the novel more than anyone else's.

A decent follow-up.

i'll only give it two stars... because yancey's repetitive writing has gotten on my nerves this time. compared to "the 5th way" here one has (even) less adventure and more of that cringy "twilighty" soap opera for young women... yak! most probably i'm not reading yancey any time soon.

This book is not quite as good as the first novel in the trilogy, although it is a good read. It simply takes a bit too long in getting to the juicy parts.

The character development in the mid-section of this trilogy is very interesting. To the author's credit this book ends in a manner that makes the final installment of the trilogy most enticing.
