I really enjoyed this one. I found myself reflecting on this in between reading (listening) sessions.
Nicely written concise history of mankind.
Lectura más entretenida que certera. Tarea nada fácil la que tiene delante y que mantiene y expone en tan solo ~450 páginas de forma muy comprensible y fluida. Muy interesante, sobretodo hasta la tercera parte, que parece escribir con prisas y con cierto sesgo las bondades del imperialismo y el capitalismo. Escoge de forma confusa un tono defensivo inexistente hasta esa parte del libro. Infumable la última parte con aires de manual de auto ayuda New Age, como si quisiera tranquilizar a cualquier liberal que se haya podido sentir mal en las secciones anteriores. Me sorprende que pasemos de hablar y analizar de la revolución agrícola a recomendar la meditación para sentirnos más felices... Entiendo perfectamente porque ha llamado tanto la atención de los caballeros casual en tejanos de Silicon Valley. Si para Harari ideología y religión la misma cosa son, este libro bien podría ser la Biblia de cualquier …

No me importaría leer 'Breve historia de la humanidad' con una interpretación menos centrada en el individualismo. Pero en general, un libro recomendable, ya que propone de forma relativamente provocadora diferentes enfoques sobre los mitos que nos han contado sobre la historia.
The frequent criticism of Sapiens I’ve read is that it’s too hard to differentiate between facts and fiction. A favourite book of mine “The Better Angels of Our Nature” is an example of a well researched book that has extensive citations to back its claims. Sapiens does fail short in that regard. However, IMHO, the criticism is unwarranted. I don’t think the author intended it to be an academic book. The subject covered is vast and is subject to interpretation.
What I found the most interesting about this book is the authors framing of the obvious things around us. It’s fascinating to think about both the past and the future from a different viewpoint. Don’t take this book as your university reference guide and you’re good.
Very interesting and insightful view of humanity from as detached a perspective as probably possible. I felt like Neo in the scene where Morpheus reveals his deepest reality. I'll be reading this again and look forward to seeing what Harari's other books hold.
Not a "whoa" book like Guns, Germs, and Steel, but a good and concise summary of humanity's development that is largely unsentimental (a good thing)
A phenomenal read, provided you keep in mind many of the assertions Harari makes are his personal opinions.
Some extremely interesting bits about human history and prehistory and a variety of misconceptions busted. The hype behind this book seems justified, however, some very boring bits around the mid and the use of too simple language (at least in the English translation) were disheartening.
