Just a very nice and easy to read short interwoven story collection.. No real hard edges. Recommending as a good read in these increasingly dark times.

Das Buch handelt von fünf Personen, die mit ihrem Leben nicht so recht zufrieden sind, weil ihre einstigen Lebensträume unerreichbar verloren scheinen. Jeder Person ist ein eigenes Kapitel gewidmet, das stets den gleichen Aufbau und Ablauf hat. Die im übertragenen Sinne schubsende Bibliothekarin, die scheinbar für jeden Menschen das passende Buch empfehlen kann, und eine selbst gefilzte Zugabe dazu parat hat, ist der gemeinsame Moment aller Kapitel.
Einerseits bleiben die Geschichten für meinen Geschmack zu weit an der Oberfläche, die Charaktere sind stereotyp, die Handlungen wenig entwickelt, wirken konstruiert und sind vorhersehbar.
Andererseits wird man schon unterhalten und „die Moral von der Geschicht“ wird in jedem Kapitel deutlich: Kleine Veränderungen können wesentlich sein, solange man den Mut nicht verliert, offen bleibt, um Chancen wahrnehmen zu können und diese auch ergreift. Und das wahrer „Erfolg“ immer mit Leben und anderen Menschen zu tun hat, weniger mit beruflicher Karriere.

Das Buch stimmt nachdenklich und ist von der Grundstimmung her angenehm gelassen und zuversichtlich, das angekündigte große Leseglück wollte sich allerdings partout nicht einstellen.

4.5 at least - fatphobia does not translate well to English audience. However, I was incredibly glad I found this book. It is it's own bonus gift.

This was really sweet.
Exactly the book I needed at exactly this moment. Kinda hard to be objective as I didn't realize it was going to be so important to me emotionally... But even ignoring that, it's good. Maybe a little simplistic? But still very very good in terms of an intertwined anthology of stories about people looking for something more in themselves and their lives and finding (the start of) it in the library.
In dem Buch geht es um fünf Personen, die ihren Weg in eine kleine Gemeinschaftsbibliothek finden an unterschiedlichen Punkten ihres Lebens. Dort werden sie mit der Frage der Bibliothekarin begrüßt: Was suchen Sie? Zwar bekommen sie die Bücher, die sie suchen, dennoch werden ihnen zusätzlich ein anderes Buch vorgeschlagen. Zu jeder Ausleihe gibt es eine kleine "Zugabe", ein gefilzter Gegenstand. Mit diesem anderen Buch und der Zugabe werden die Personen inspiriert, ihr Leben zum Positiven zu verändern.
