To make the journey into The Power of Now we will need to leave our analytical mind and its false created self, the ego, behind. From the beginning of the first chapter we move rapidly into a significantly higher altitude where one breathes a lighter air, the air of the spiritual. Although the journey is challenging, Eckhart Tolle offers simple language and a question and answer format to guide us. The words themselves are the signposts. The book is a guide to spiritual awakening from a man who has emerged as one of this generation's clearest, most inspiring teachers. Eckhart Tolle is not aligned with any particular religion but does what all the great masters have done: shows that the way, the truth, and the light already exist within each of us.
A little harder to follow than A New Earth but still very good. I liked the Q&A format. I could easily identify with the questions and enjoyed seeing light shine on them.
This is one of those books you want to keep, to re-read it later.
Great introduction on living in the now and why it is important.
The author seems to talk about his own experiences, but because
of the strange style, you sometimes get the impression that he is
not really a writer. Non the less, you should read it.
Starts out as a grounded, practical self help book but suddenly decides to go utterly and completely spiritual and religious. But I suppose it made me realise that I'm neither. So thanks for that.
Having done some meditation and a few attempts at mindfulness, I found this book to be a good way to really learn to be present and not dwell on the past or worry about the future. That's not to say that I'm an expert by any means. I feel this book has given me a start on being in the now and not thinking away the best of every moment. It's not going to be easy to complete this journey, but I already can feel benefits of the little bit of pure presence I have managed to accomplish. One thing that really helps is to apply the concepts during my yoga class. Yoga lends itself very well to the ideas from this book.
