Powerful, and heartbreaking.
Also amazingly prescient. Butler died 10 years before Trump was elected but here he is in all his Christo-fascist glory.

Parable of the Talents is a science fiction novel by American writer Octavia E. Butler, published in 1998. It is the second in a series of two, a sequel to Parable of the Sower. It won the Nebula Award for Best Novel.

The compelling plausibility of her near-future dystopia is sharply contrasted with the laughably un-compelling Earthseed belief system that motivates the main character and which, I think, we are supposed to accept uncritically (why else would she try to make us read all those verses?)
