Somehow the least and most conventional romance novel I have ever read

This was absolutely incredible!! The wild and random plot threads through out the book were my perfect kind of batshit crazy and all the characters have my heart forever. Emily Henry is 100% my favorite romance writer currently, I don’t know what she’s sprinkling into the pages of her books, but it’s wonderful. One of the easiest 5 star ratings of my life, loved every second.
I read Emily Henry's later books before this, so I can understand why some people were disappointed with them after Beach Read. They definitely have a different tone.

Un libro redondo.
Llevaba tiempo queriendo leer este libro y ha sido una buena experiencia, quiero decir, el libro me duró apenas un día, y por eso mismo quiero dejar clara una cosa antes de que nadie lo vaya a leer: esta novela nos promete una comedia romántica y no es para nada una comedia romántica. Esta puede ser la única cosa que no me ha gustado, pero creo que es la que más ha influido en mi visión final del libro por las expectativas que tenía. La novela del verano puede que tenga toques de humor, como puede tener cualquier otra novela, pero la comedia no será para nada un eje de nuestra historia, sino que lo será el drama de la protagonista sobre quién es ella y quién es su padre después de que al morir se entrara de que había sido infiel a su mujer y, como con esto, su visión enamoradiza de la vida pasa un gran bache. Creo que, al esperar momentos de risas, en la rivalidad picante que podía surgir entre los protas y alguna otra cosa típica de las comedias este libro al final me ha dejado a medias, en ese momento de "me gusta, pero irremediablemente me esperaba otra cosa totalmente distinta." En cuanto a lo que nos trae aquí me ha parecido un libro bonito, con una pluma muy ligera y sencilla de llevar, sin tiempos muertos y con unos protagonistas que necesitan sanar sus heridas, pero no se hacen excesivamente obscuros por lo que es muy sencillo empatizar con ellos. El tema del duelo será algo muy importante en el libro, así que si este es un tema delicado para vosotras os recomiendo que lo dejéis para más tarde porque desde luego que os hará pensar en esas personas que hayáis perdido y todo lo que les rodeaba. Creo que en ningún momento las tramas se hacen demasiado largas y los conflictos se sobrellevan bien sin dar las típicas vueltas de culebrón, por lo que en todo momento y en cada capítulo los temas van saltando y, aunque haya algún tema que deba ser tratado en más de un momento, se hace de forma tan limpia que no da problemas en la lectura.
En general es un libro redondo, de los que casi seguro que gustan a la mayoría de sus lectoras, pero al ser catalogado como una comedia romántica he terminado con un sabor agridulce. A pesar de todo ello súper recomiendo este libro.

Anyway, this one was well written and emotionally engaging and not too cheesy, but tbh I was really just into the main characters' shared backstory that they were super obsessed with each other in undergrad but each thought the other hated them and Gus was such a teenage boy that he couldn't relate to her in any other way than criticizing her writing because he thought that showed that he took her seriously but she just thought he had contempt for her and January was so committed to not letting him know how much she was into him that she just refused to look at him and then one night they couldn't keep their eyes off of each other and BOOM goes the chemistry and then they can't keep their hands …
