I expected this to be maybe somewhat interesting. Instead it was fascinating, illuminating, fun, and moving at different times. It was great to read about some of the experiences of Chinese immigrants who ended up coming to Canada and running Chinese "chop suey" restaurants, including the author's own family.

I really don't know what to make of this book. I finished it. I think I liked it, but... Yeah. Sure was a ride, and I'm going to have to go back and watch John Green's crash course video about this one to help me process, I think.

Sometimes I wasn't quite sure where it was going or if it was ever going to get there at all, but I liked his tone and way of thinking, and in the end I think it's cohesive and very intriguing. Would recommend.

John Green's was clearly the best story of the three, but I love how all three short stories come together in the end to make this an almost-novel. It's cute, fluffy, and Christmassy, and I really liked it.
