Ben reviewed BFG Big friendly giant by Roald Dahl
Good for Kids
This seems like it should be scary but it's a lot of fun.

This book is a great book for all ages. It is a fantasy/adventure book. The BFG stands for 'Big Friendly Giant'. He isn't like other giants, instead of going out to different countries to eat children he catches dreams. When he find's a little orphan girl watching him, he kidnaps her because he doesn't want anyone to find out that he was there, but when they arrive at giant's land they become friends and set off into the world to save all the children from the hungry giants.
This seems like it should be scary but it's a lot of fun.
I'm losing my patience with the Roald Dahl books but my son seems to be enjoying them so we're still going.
His favorite part was the discovery of the BFG's large storage of bottled dreams, which I didn't know he liked so much while we were reading but once he mentioned it I agreed it was a very pleasant image.
His second favorite part was the image of giants being air lifted across the sky in large helicopters because it reminded him of his favorite movie scene: King Kong being carried through the sky by large yellow balloons on his way to fight Godzilla in King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962).
Reading this so I can practice my giant voice and to get to grips with the nonsense-words in preparation for reading this to my daughter. Can't wait.
Seeing as we recently saw the new movie I thought it must be time for a re-read of the BFG. This is easily my favourite of Roald Dahl's books, it's so much fun doing all the voices, I was even complimented by my daughter that I sounded like the BFG...hadn't even started the book when that happened.
Not sure what I can say about this book, everybody knows all about it, whether from the book or the movie versions. It's about a giant who steals a little girl and takes her back to his hovel to see his jars of dreams, there are some bad giants, I do feel sorry for them, they only turned out that way because of the names their parents gave them...anyway the Queen comes to the rescue.
Wonderful illustrations by Quentin Blake as usual, there is so much detail in what at first looks like …

Wonderful illustrations by Quentin Blake as usual, there is so much detail in what at first looks like a little scribble on the page, the bloke is a genius.
Love this book! this version comes with a set of ears at the back you can cut out...guess what I'm doing tomorrow. :-)
Awesome Novel, one of my absolute favorites as a child. This story contains just about everything you need to escape as a child. Well worth the read, lots of laughs to be had.
