Saga is an epic space opera/fantasy comic book series written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Fiona Staples, published monthly by the American company Image Comics. The series is based on ideas Vaughan conceived both as a child and as a parent. It depicts a husband and wife, Alana and Marko, from long-warring extraterrestrial races, fleeing authorities from both sides of a galactic war as they struggle to care for their daughter, Hazel, who is born in the beginning of the series, and who occasionally narrates the series as an unseen adult.

Despite Brian K. Vaughan's often adolescent interests, the creativity of the world and characters in this story shines through. I enjoyed meeting each new character and often studied Fiona Staples' art with a sense of awe. Don't expect anything more than space opera here, but do expect a very well made one.
Possibly one of the best graphic novels I have read. Beautiful art accompanied and writing that leaves most other graphic novels appearing very flat.
The content may not be to some peoples taste and I certainly wouldn't recommend it for anyone under the age of 15, matures content and concepts.
An action & adventure comic that opens with childbirth, and then follows the parents and newborn as they flee the forces of two warring nations, bounty hunters, local monsters, and ... grandparents? Suspenseful, smart, funny, and gorgeous art.
Reminds me of Starlin's Dreadstar, in a good way! I'll be reading the next volume.
Absolutely beautiful artwork and the story's world feels very fresh.
