I had lots of fun, Harry Dresden faces impossible situations and deals with vampires and succubus. There is a family reunion, and dogs and weird things happening to Dresden's powers. I want to continue reading to see what happens.

I keep finding myself coming back to this series after swearing that the last one is the last I will read. However, I'm probably hooked now. The writing has gotten much better and this was easily my favorite Dresden book so far.

Reading this book felt more like watching a season of a tv show and this season of Dresden files addressed a lot of loose ends from previous seasons. Giving you enough resolution to feel worthwhile but not giving too much away either.

The main storyline was a bit less intriguing - Dresden protects a cursed porn set filming in Chicago - but the secondary plot was much more involved and interesting.

I'm not going to jump into the next book instantly but my break between books will be much shorter.

Finally done with Harry Dresden. While I quite enjoyed it at first, his character just made reading the series harder and harder. He is a self-righteous ass and his chauvinism becomes quite irritating.

The first half was a little weak; but it got better near the end. Kincaid is a decent new character, but he's no Michael Carpenter.

Dresden goes through more crap, has the worst luck ever, then finds he actually does have a family. Nicely done, Jim Butcher. Nicely done.

This is a great modern or urban fantasy. I've read the first nine books in the series and don't intend to review all of them, so this is a review of the series. There is a formula to the series, and it becomes a bit too apparent about mid-way through the books I've read, but the writing is good enough to overlook it.

The characters are interesting and the action is well paced. Highly recommended to anyone interested in magic set in the modern world.
