Cute little book with a good message. A nice comfort in a disquieting world. I wish I had read it to my son when he was younger.
The Phantom Tollbooth is a fable in every chapter, clever wit in every paragraph, and careful thought in every sentence. It is both a treatise on critical thinking and a tender story of a young boy’s adventure. It is just as much an epic struggle between Wisdom and Ignorance as it is a playful comedy. Its excellence is a testament to the fruits of curious wonder and deep wisdom.

A re-read of one of my favorite childhood books. I am a huge fan of bad puns and play on words, so I will never tire of this story!
This was a wonderful book! This was one of the 1st things I purchased for my husband shortly after I started dating him. The puns and games with language, ideas, and numbers are truly a great mental exercise and and more than pleasant diversion. He plays with some of the standard receptions and idioms in English, and I will never forget the dog that says "Tick“ but is named “Tock". Its intention is to point out the amazing things that are going on all around us even when we choose to be bored. Highly recommended for preteens through adults. WONDERFUL book!

Punny fun on how to live. I guess I never read this as a kid, but surely influenced Labrynth / Princess Bride etc etc.
I really love this book. It's just a joy to read, and every time I go through it, I notice more and more puns.
However, the puns aren't the entire content. Scattered about in the midst of the humor is some real wisdom.
A childhood classic in which the ultimate message is to oppose ignorance and champion thought and reason...a message that is needed now more than ever.
One of my childhood treasures. Reading it again as an adult was a beautiful experience, it touched my soul, it transported me back to that same moment when I first read it and felt the same excitement and happiness. It features original and unusual humor, the author develops a beautiful metaphor of the learning process making it a fun experience and a challenge to intelligence with incentive motivation and optimism. Milo, the protagonist, discover the value of words, the world of mathematics and time thanks to the Phantom Tollbooth which allows you to start your fantastic voyage.
It would be hard to find a better kids book. It’s cute, the world play is fun, the world is interesting, and there’s some good lessons to take from it.
