The propulsive, shockingly plausible sequel to New York Times bestseller DaemonIn one of the most buzzed-about debuts of 2009, Daniel Suarez introduced a terrifying vision of a new world order, controlled by the Daemon, an insidious computer program unleashed by a hi-tech wunderkind, Daemon captured the attention of the tech community, became a New York Times and Indie bestseller, and left readers hungry for more.Well, more is here, and it's even more gripping than its predecessor. In the opening chapters of Freedom(tm), the Daemon is firmly in control, using an expanded network of real-world, dispossessed darknet operatives to tear apart civilization and rebuild it anew. Soon civil war breaks out in the American Midwest, in a brutal wave of violence that becomes known as the Corn Rebellion. Former detective Pete Sebeck, now the Daemon's most powerful-though reluctant-operative, must lead a small band of enlightened humans toward a populist movement designed to …

It seemed like the first book in the series was just building toward this book. In a good way. In a world with endless unfinished series a nice concise 2 book series is refreshing.

Great ideas in this series. It's hard to know where to start but I wish we could trade in our corrupt corporate system of government for something videogame/reddit/Internet based.

The HUD glasses made me really wish Google glass was cooler. So much squandered potential there. In a few years hopefully apple will pick up that thread.

It's nice to see a techno thriller written be someone who supports science without the heavy handed "man shouldn't play God" morals found in the genre.

This was the first "post-Occupy" thriller I've read and I rather enjoyed it. As I was promised this was a better book than [b:Daemon|4699575|Daemon (Daemon, #1)|Daniel Suarez|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1347478594s/4699575.jpg|4763873]. [a:Daniel Suarez|1956402|Daniel Suarez|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1265394868p2/1956402.jpg]'s writing was much improved between the two books. Too bad he can never go back and rewrite this story as a single book. I assume this will be a movie before long....

I liked this book even better than the first, which is saying a lot. I love when the villain turns out to be the good guy. You get to see a different side of just about every character from the first book. I heard a rumor that they are making a movie from the first book. I really hope they do, because it would be awesome.
