Content warning Discussion of the plot

When I finished Daemon it just felt like it had not finished. Not like "this left a cliffhanger" but more like "this was incomplete", so I went and read Freedom too.

Not surprisingly, Freedom continues to be as underwhelming as Daemon is.

I had to suffer for a whole chapter of the author calling Native Americans "Indians" while wondering what happened to the book's editor.

I feel like this book goes even more gory than the one before, more often resorting to just going into gory detail instead of anything else.

One of the main Daemon operatives of the previous book is not even mentioned anymore, did he get a silent death? I can't tell.

In this whole "new society shaping itself up" the characters are still pretty much following the same gender roles and not much changes, which I really find appalling. Just a lack of imagination.

But hey, at least this one has an ending.

As a follower of "Daemon" it was pretty interesting, looking into the socio-economic changes of the world and following different people on their journeys.
It's an interesting read as a hypothetical A.I. scenario, maybe a bit optimistic.

It seemed like the first book in the series was just building toward this book. In a good way. In a world with endless unfinished series a nice concise 2 book series is refreshing.

Great ideas in this series. It's hard to know where to start but I wish we could trade in our corrupt corporate system of government for something videogame/reddit/Internet based.

The HUD glasses made me really wish Google glass was cooler. So much squandered potential there. In a few years hopefully apple will pick up that thread.

It's nice to see a techno thriller written be someone who supports science without the heavy handed "man shouldn't play God" morals found in the genre.

This was the first "post-Occupy" thriller I've read and I rather enjoyed it. [a:Daniel Suarez|1956402|Daniel Suarez|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1265394868p2/1956402.jpg]'s writing was much improved between the two books. Too bad he can never go back and rewrite this story as a single book. I assume this will be a movie before long....

Do not agree that this was not as "dark" as Daemon. It was as good though, or possibly even better, and the end wraps up more satisfyingly as well. Quite happy to have read this.

This book is the next part of the story begun in Daemon. Daemon felt all new, with fantastic weaving of near-future utopian concepts. Freedom felt like a watered down rerun of the first book. Its still enjoyable and there is some great imaginative thinking on what society would look like if we went through the 1800s again, but this time with MakerBots and the Internet.

I liked this book even better than the first, which is saying a lot. I love when the villain turns out to be the good guy. You get to see a different side of just about every character from the first book. I heard a rumor that they are making a movie from the first book. I really hope they do, because it would be awesome.

An excellent follow-up to Suarez' debut novel /Daemon/. How will the various world powers react to the massive online 'darknet' that is organizing and coordinating millions of users? Great stuff.
