I really like the Dresden universe. Good book.
Paperback, 432 pages
Published Oct. 6, 2005 by ORBIT (LITT).
Now in hardcover from the New York Times bestselling author of The Dresden Files.Harry Dresden's faced some pretty terrifying foes during his career. Giant scorpions. Oversexed vampires. Psychotic werewolves. All par for the course for Chicago's only professional wizard. But in all of Harry's years of supernatural sleuthing, he's never faced anything like this: the spirit world's gone postal. All over Chicago, ghosts are causing trouble—and not just of the door-slamming, 'boo'- shouting variety. These ghosts are tormented, violent, and deadly.Someone—or something—is stirring them up to wreak unearthly havoc. But why? And why do so many of the victims have ties to Harry? If Harry doesn't figure it out soon, he could wind up a ghost himself.
I really like the Dresden universe. Good book.
My third and final read of the Dresden Files. Past familiar and into predictable, with an increased emphasis on the adolescent masculinity of the first two and less of a coherent mystery at the core to keep things moving.
bisschen platt, aber unterhaltsam.

This was actually really good. I liked that the cops were basically gone. I'm a total sucker for aesthetic hocking of Catholicism. Michael is a really cool character and the vampire fights were really fun.
I felt pretty bad about susan just getting vampified and fucking off without saying goodbye but I feel like that is on purpose. I imagine she’ll be back in a future book. It is a pretty reasonable resolution to the love triangle with murphy I guess.
Dresden is slowly becoming less of a cop-brained wannabe but he still needs to check his fucking savior complex already.
I'm withholding a rating because I read this under less than ideal circumstances: I borrowed the audio book on CD from my local library, and listened to it over several sessions, with long gaps in between. Combined with a few mistakes such that I listened to chapters out of order.
Beyond that, this one seems darker and grittier than the previous two.

Stakes are higher on this book. Innocent people die, more than I've seen in previous books. Overly powerful ghost demons, sorcerers, and vampires. We learn there are 3 types of vampires in this world and what are their differences. They ended up being way more powerful than I thought. Harry Dresden also shows some wicked powers. It's pure action fun, with supernatural stuff going on.
3.5/5
Probably my least favourite in the series so far but I can see how it provided some valuable context for the extent of Harry's power and his relationship with certain factions. Looking forward to the next one.
★★★☆☆, close to ★★☆☆☆¹
I liked the [b:1st one|47212|Storm Front (The Dresden Files, #1)|Jim Butcher|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1572991273l/47212.SY75.jpg|1137060], the [b:2nd one|91477|Fool Moon (The Dresden Files, #2)|Jim Butcher|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1507307616l/91477.SY75.jpg|855288] not quite as much.
But this one‽ Bah.
I liked the idea of the gost of a demon, but the rest, not so much.
The whole final part, the vampire party and the sinking of the vampire house i didn’t like at all. The repeated “last bit of power” “completely exhausted” “finaler bit of power” “completlyer exhausted” “finalst bit of power” “even more completlyer exhausteder” spiel was annoying.
¹(I reserve ★☆☆☆☆ for evil books that hurt people by their bigotry &c.)
Much better than the last one, which made me want to give up on the series altogether (but I've been hearing a lot about the later ones being really good, so I wanted to read the whole series)
Meh
Fun fluff.
Tercero de la saga, y en este se presentan a varios personajes importantes, como nuestro paladín favorito y su espada. Además es donde se empieza con la historia transversal, la que irá uniendo la saga.
Another great book by Jim Butcher! This time I listened to the audio book read by James Marsden, who did an awesome job. It kept me entertained while I was stick in bed with the flu. :) We're back in Harry Dresden's turbulent life and he yet again battles the Supernatural.
There are ghosts, vampires and a posessed skull with a posh British accent. Love it. ;)
James Marsters is so awesome reading the audio version of this book.
