Marsha Woerner reviewed A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles
Review of 'A Gentleman in Moscow' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
The characters were fully developed, and the main character made me want to cry – she had such a hard life and was working so hard at trying to forget the promises that were broken and the emotional pain that she experienced. The author mixed this in with an endearing story of revitalization. I liked all of the characters – well, except the dead husband and the slimy uncle – and the writing displayed the ambivalence of her situation and feelings. The reader comes out relating with the main character and caring for her troubles and mixed emotions – and the sources of same.
