Still processing this epic story that I just finished reading. Started it way before but couldn't finish it. Now that I have, all I can say is just good things about it.

Middle earth is my escape now, escape from the realities, with stories and characters so fascinating many of which I could still relate to myself or any other real-life things. The meaning it conveys is very much profound. The moral lessons, character development, the beauty of the Shire, the grandness of Middle Earth, the tales, and many more. So much to admire and take from this great tale of all the tales.

Truly a tale to rule all of the tales.

Will re-read it again and again when I can. But for now, I just want to explore more of Middle Earth and the other stories by Professor Tolkein.

Definitely more gripping that the FotR, with increased pace and more perils as the story goes. Every character is so well created by Tolkein and each part of the journey is engaging. I absolutely enjoyed reading how great Mithrandir aka Gandalf the great really is and how great the company is. Merry and Pippin, Frodo and Sam, all the four hobbits have a great journey to follow along including the remaining members of the company.

Now I can't wait to finish reading RotK before I write a complete review of the LotR!

What a great book. Just as the first one I enjoyed it very much. Read it way too fast as always but it’s one of those books one con’t easily put down.
If I hadn’t seen the movies, I would be so excited to know how the 5th volume continues—still I am, since the books are so great.

2018 Re-read: On my first read of the Lord of the Rings trilogy I was impressed with how faithful the movie adaption was. This time around I appreciated the differences that exist and embraced it fully. I feel that this allowed me to have a better reading experience and appreciate those moments kept strictly in the books.

It must often be so, Sam, when things are in danger: some one has to give them up, lose them, so that others may keep them.

I will not say: do not weep, for not all tears are an evil.

Original reading in 2012: I really enjoyed re-reading the trilogy and see myself coming back to these books repeatedly over the years.

An excellent conclusion to a great series. My favourite part of the book was Mordor. The description of Mordor is much more intense and gloomy than how I imagined it. …

"The Return of the King" by J.R.R. Tolkien brings the "The Lord of the Rings" to a ringing conclusion. At the end of the journey, one cannot help but be impressed by the level of detail and imagination that went into this beloved work of literature. While for the most part "The Return of the King" is a satisfying conclusion the story, the experience is lessened by a disjointed and often confusingly crafted narrative structure of the whole novel.

"The Return of the King" follows the battle between the forces of the West led by Gandalf and those of the Dark Lord Sauron. "The Two Towers" by J.R.R. Tolkien continues the rich, epic journey of "The Fellowship of the Ring," raising the stakes and plunging the heroes deeper into the fight for the fate of Middle Earth. This second volume is filled with memorable characters, rich landscapes, and poetic passages that shines through a somewhat odd and disjointed structure.

In this volume, the Fellowship splits into two parts. Book Three follows Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli as they chase after Merry and Pippin, kidnapped by Orcs and Urukai from Isengard, into Rohan, a fiercely independent kingdom under attack from Saurman. Book Four follows on parallel the story of Frodo and Sam as they move closer to Mordor to destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom and along the way, they encounter a malevolent character lurking the shadows.
